1. I don't get it

I always feel stupid when I miss some profound bit in a cartoon or painting. Is it that people hate the New Year?

I would have written "it said becuase he expects more corporate takeover of the United States" or "it said because the GOP is taking the House" or something.

I don't get this one though.

3. Try saying

"because people absolutely hate what the new year will bring".

4. Look at the prediction threads on DU prior to durring and after the new year.

Doom & Gloom, nuclear war, anarchy, food riots, double dip, stock market going to crash, hyper inflation, runs on the banks, etc.

I think (maybe wrong) it is a reflection on how many horrible predictions are made about 2011 before we even started 2011.
