Wasn't really on purpose, but once I heard his smug, hateful voice I simply had to listen for a bit.
Here's the basic shtick from the segment that I caught:
1. Read a headline hinting at some dire event or consequence, but give no context or perspective. 2. Sneeringly blame it on Obama
Like so:
"Man dies while waiting in ambulance because hospital is too full. Thanks, President Obama."
or
"Gas price inch higher as Memorial Day approaches. Way to go, Mr. President."
or
"College degrees worth less today than ten years ago. Take a bow, Mr. President. Take a bow."
If I were the kind of uncritical mouth-breather who deliberately listened to Savage's spew, I imagine I'd draw a direct line between President Obama and The Dire Event, even though (and especially because) Savage doesn't actually give any support for that conclusion. He simply reads these blurbs in no obvious order and attributes them to Obama through some weirdo association never actually made clear.
Savage is quick to tout his own credentials, of course, and he's very fond of the obscure reference and ten-dollar word, but that doesn't mean that his nonsense is anything but nonsense.
But try telling that to his avid listeners...
