I didn't know he was suspended from his radio show - that isn't connected to NBC is it? Did he make this insulting remark on the radio or TV show?

His TV show does not run on Friday nights, anyway, so he has been taking off on Fridays on his radio show also, to take a long weekend for travel, going home to N. Dakota, etc..

Just because Mike P. is filling in doesn't mean he was suspended from his show. In broadcasting, the solution to all these on-air-mishaps is to disappear from the scene for a while, until it blows over. Since American's have short attention spans, this works pretty well.
