Australia’s Floods Raising Concern About Agriculture, Coal Supplies Oil
By Murray Coleman

Flooding in Australia, by some accounts covering land roughly the size of France and Germany combined, are raising concerns about diminished supplies of coal, wheat and sugar.

Agriculture markets seem particularly vulnerable to prolonged price increases as some analysts are now projecting that by the time rains subside, Australia’s wheat growers could face losing 90% of their produce.

Forecasts for “intense” cold in parts of the U.S. also are adding to commodities concerns.
