I think somewhere out there is a commercial showing Granny being kicked to the curb.
I think it's running in Florida. Has anyone seen it, or did I dream I heard about this?

18. That's good. Hits at the emotional level, rather than factual.
Now, if there were just some in that vein concerning homelessness.

But, that isn't something that activists are very interested in.

Yet, we are being shoved off the cliff.... silently.....

4. What happens when we try to fix Medicare as we know we must?
We've boxed ourselves into the corner of conning people into thinking we can leave it as is.

9. I never really hear about getting the cost of health care down in the US. Why
are we 50% more expensive than the next nearest country. We certainly do not lead the world in healthcare quality per WHO.

And, why can other countries do healthcare for all of the citizens just fine. We seem to focus on how we can pay outrageous costs for healthcare at 2X the going rate in other countries. And reject the successful healthcare solutions in other countries.

12. Here's the problem
it's health care costs that are totally out of control because of the greed of for-profit health care insurance companies. Until that gets fixed, we're doomed - and that means all of us.

14. Exactly!!! And, for all the 2X costs we do not lead in any sense in the
quality of healthcare per the WHO. We are doomed currently by a ridiculous healthcare system rigged to be outrageously expensive.

17. Yet you don't hear the Dems saying that which is why I think the are conning the public.
Obama barely touched things in the affordable care act and people were up in arms. Listen to the language Dems are using. They are pretending the status quo is okay. It is making me feel queasy.

13. As the focus is placed on preventative care, the cost will go down naturally
Less late effects of diabetes, hypertension and stroke as precautionary methods(cholestrol checks, medication availability, screening) are considered the norm and available to all.
Less dialysis.
Less rehab.
less disability.
It's a win-win situation.
It's what I am hoping we will be seeing.

16. I read a while back that we are at the low point now - we're paying
for all the new drugs now and for treating diseases those drugs prevent. As you say - the payoff is down the road. My husband has been on anti-cholesterol drugs for 20 years. A lot of his contemporaries are going in from double and triple by-pass surgery. I'm hoping the medication kept his arteries clear!
