U.S., India establish $100 million green-tech fund

The U.S.-India Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Center is ready to offer $100 million in public and private-sector funding for green-tech research, the organization announced last week.

Specifically, the center's intent is to fund joint projects between U.S. and Indian research groups involving biofuels, solar energy, or building efficiency.

India and the U.S. are together contributing $50 million to the center, with the other $50 million expected to be privately matched.

This is great news. I only wish the funding was higher....but then again 100 million is still a good amount....especially so when it comes to funding research projects. Its about time we start moving away from dirty coal and oil..slowly but surely.

3. both countries are paying an equal share
and researchers from both countries will be able to receive the funds. So I really dont see this as a way for India alone to benefit.

4. Yep
I hope some of the technologies developed here might receive additional funding if they are found promising.
