Just a reminder - there are other people that can show their displeasure when someone says something racist/homophobic/sexist. We don't have to wait for their bosses to do something because let's face it, we know Fox News, the GOP, and other right-wing organizations will do squat about it.

If I see one more post about how Rush & Glenn and others get away with it I'll scream.

They haven't gotten away with it. They are being held accountable just by other means.

A source told the Daily News that the number of advertisers currently boycotting Beck’s program is now closing in at 400.

According to Nielsen Media Research, during the first quarter of 2011, Beck lost more than a third of his audience over last year--more than one million viewers.

Media consultant Larry Kramer said Beck faces a dilemma because "while he has shown he can draw an audience to his programming, he has had difficulty attracting advertisers because of the controversial nature of his content, which is exactly what draws his audience."

The viewers for shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck have dropped by a third in the last 6 months.

An apples-to-apples comparison of ratings between November ’09 and November ’10 in the New York area shows that Rush Limbaugh’s ratings on WABC declined from 5.4 to 5.0—despite the crescendo of a GOP election year landslide. Likewise, year-end to year-end comparisons of the crucial 24 to 55 demographic show that Rush declined from 3.7 to 2.6—while his packaged follow-up acts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin narrowly declined and flat-lined, respectively. And Hannity was dropped from his Philadelphia radio station along with Beck last month after being dropped from his syndicator in Salt Lake City (!) last year before finding a new home in the area.

The thing is this - a week suspension is nothing for Ed Schultz. He apologized for a reason - because we the people are getting damn sick & tired of these assholes on the TV and Radio using this kind of vile talk. It's totally unacceptable. The suspension and apology is MSNBC & Ed Schultz way of saying - "Mistakes happen, we are better than our right-wing counterparts when it comes to our rhetoric". Thing is this - because MSNBC made the suspension and because Ed apologized, it only strengthens his show. It let's the listeners know that we are better then they are.

I'm sick and tired of hearing this "They do it why can't we" mentality. We are NOT like these right-wing crazies, we are better people who can discuss the issues and criticize our opponents without dropping our standards into the gutter.

Nothing is more joyful to hear than that Rush's ratings have dropped and that Glenn's show was dropped. People are starting to tire of their crap.

25-30% drop in listeners means a lot of advertisers will want a big drop in rates.

6. C'mon, As long as Beck held an audience with numbers, he

stayed on the air even though companies boycotted him.

He still received his Big Bucks and spews venom every day.

I have not seen Rush or Hannity squirm. They still remain
ahead of the pack in the ratings even though they lost audience.
