Right-wingers are just amazing (re: cops, teachers, firefighters)
They constantly talk about the "common man" but if you mention a cop, firefighter, teacher, they go ballistic, talking about how these people make "great money" and have excellent benefits and get compensated more than enough for what they do and how annoyed they are that they have the "nerve" to demonstrate when their rights are being threatened.

I frequent what is likely the largest college football message board on the web with average online users at any given time at 2000+. Most of the posters are right-wing (a conclusion I base on years of reading various polls about politics/social issues on the site). The amount of cop/firefighter/teacher hating bullshit I read on there is just staggering. Someone called these groups "over-privileged" and another said "teachers don't have to work during summers while the rest of us do they should take their 35k and shut up."

Makes me absolutely f'ing sick. When did this hate for these professions start?

3. Funnily enough
They think the owners are being assholes (which I agree with) but they go on about how the players deserve even MORE than they are being paid which I always say is horse-shit; both owners and players should probably be getting paid less and the rest of the money should be going back into the communities where the team resides.

So teachers are "over privileged" and someone who gets paid 10 mil a year to throw or catch a football is not making enough, according to them.

5. Exactly
If Rush Limbaugh told them to shit in their own lunchbox, they'd do it. He pretty much has with RyanDon'tCare support, and they eat it up with a spork.

4. Cops? COPS? Right-wingers blast against COPS? That's news to me.
In my experience, in their minds they are about 92.734% as Holy as Soldiers.

10. Not at all

If they are far-right, they see them as an "arm of big government" coming to get them.

The right doesn't REALLY respect soldiers either. They are just pawns in their politics. Once they come back from war, they want to cut their benefits.

6. It's because our salaries are paid with their tax dollars
If it wasn't for that, they wouldn't give a shit about any of us.

8. I used to read several popular financial blogs
A couple were written by libertarians. They started going off on public sector employees: firemen, police, prison guards and teachers around 2008 claiming their benefits packages were too rich and paid by our taxpayer dollars. When the quote their salaries though they are completely dishonest using their salary plus benefits package. They honestly feel all these things should be privatized.

Thing about privatized services though, you still pay for them with your taxes. Just more of the money goes to the execs at the top.

They were freaking out once about pilots making too much money for a commercial airline. I think the amount they were talking about was 60,000 - 80,000 a year. In their mind making 60,000 - 80,000 a year working long shifts with literally hundreds of lives depending on one's actions was too much money.

Personally I think pilots, teachers, firemen and police deserve more. They certainly deserve our respect and thanks and it is sickening to watch the right attack them.

12. They complain about a pilot making 60K a year?
Do they ever complain about the millions the CEOs get?

15. Would they still complain about the pilot's wages
when they are on an aircraft and an engine fails at 35,000 feet?

I bet they would gripe all the way through a safe landing

the Fairness Doctrine it will never end.

11. Seems that no one should be able to make a decent salary, according to them.
Except CEOs and Bankers. They need to make huge obscene salaries.

I'm sure the whole idea comes from the super rich, again, trying to grab more for themselves and less for everyone else.
The RW buffoons just parrot whatever their overlords tell them to.

14. social experiment by far-right billionaire owned media gone right
that is: they made cops, teachers and firemen into left-wingers with cushy jobs and salaries because they're on the public dole. Except for the internet (with people interacting with each other), you can't really talk back to technology. Whoever owns it, wins, no matter how bizarre the propaganda they want to push.
