Why should you assume that the very thing that you must pay into shouldn't be there? AND honestly, how can they keep denying everyone from healthcare? Most people who are working are paying for medicare and if lucky paying for a costly healthcare for profit plan that may cover them if they are sick.. More people would be willing to put pay into Medicare for All and know they will never have to worry about going broke or needing being able to access a Dr. when they are sick ever!!! Hopefully the ball starts rolling with VT providing a model for the country.

been paying in for 40 years.
I got a specal work permit at 14 in Oregon. My mom needed help with bills.
Prom?, Football/Basketball/Dating?, not for me.
I didnt miss it, well playng sports, I missed that.
My boys will have a normel a life as I can afford to give them.

I will have been paying in for 45+ years when my youngest graduates from H.S.

And I hear that I'm fucked...just great.

In Arkansas around that time, 14-year-olds didn't need any special work permit-- just a Social Security number. A lot of my 9th grade classmates had jobs after school working at fast food joints, grocery stores, Wal-Mart, etc. I think they could even drive alone on a learner's permit if they were going to or from work.

I needed a work permit for my first job as a restaurant busboy when I was 14 too.

Kids here in Illinois who work on the family farm do not need such permits. I see little kids(12-13 years old), driving full size farm tractors though town all the time here. They need no licence or learners permit.

11. Salinen may see it differently , but apparently some people think the 'ol Ryan budget purports

to end Medicare as we know it, substituting a "Value Voucher" worth perhaps $6500 a year at retirement for people under 55 this year. No one can buy such insurance today, but the "Value Voucher Coupon" will change all that. (I wonder if they will print them on the back of your grocery reciept?).

Anyway, these few people, these lucky few, will be the pioneers into a era of Senior Insurance, where they can request that they be given the blue-collar and better insurance they got from Medicare from private companies with a vested interest in their own profit and no such product at said price today. Profits and luxurious executive percs expenses will be removed first, and this care will be paid for from anything that may remain.

Because those insurance companies will be constrained by the amount of money, which is totally insufficient in today's world, they will lower their prices, which will cause the prices of health care delivery to come down.

And, so that current retirees will be able to "share the pain", the bill also removes the insurance provision for the Medicare "donut hole", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_Part_D_coverage_gap">here.

The Republicans insist this will save us money, which is probably true. By denying people care they should die sooner and we can throw their bodies in landfills (new "green" recycling ones, I'm sure. They aren't monsters.). That's probably a lot cheaper than trying to provide this aging and unproductive group with healthcare.

Or at least that is how I read their viewpoint.

Funny how being cynical came in handy this time. That, and I've paid nearly nothing in to it. I like being lucky.

Now for the rest of the people, I am pissed off that anyone would mess with their savings. I'm not a repub, and even though it won't hurt me, I care like hell that others are going to lose. This is so wrong it should spark revolution.

12. Just turned 50, and was recently diagnosed with diabetes...

I have been working since I was in college - about 30 years - and have been paying into Medicare the entire time. Diabetes can be a very expensive illness without adequate insurance coverage, what with all the secondary complications that can arise. Mind you, I take good care of myself, and do my level best to keep it under control with diet, medication, exercise, etc., but the reality is the complications do come sooner or later. Well, I guess if at some point the complications become severe enough, and I cannot afford a premium over and above the Ryan vouchers, I should have a back-up plan in place. Is the Hemlock Society still around? I'm not kidding -- if my choice comes down to either living with slowly, or not so slowly, degrading health with inadequate access to health care, or taking an early exit, let's just say I'd like to keep my options open.

Not that any over 55s ought to rest easy. Once they get the first stage accomplished, they'll come after them...to paraphrase: "First they came for the under 55s..."
