Say what? Mitt Romney Sends Leftover Pizza to Obama Chicago HQ

May 26, 2011 7:18 PM

ABC's Emily Friedman (@abcemily) reports: After spending the day in Chicago fundraising, Mitt Romney sat down with small business owners at Gino's East, a pizza joint famous for their deep-dish pizza.

Not wanting any of the leftover slices to go to waste, Romney sent the remaining pies to where else but President Obama's Chicago reelection headquarters.

Asked if the pies actually made it to Obama's HQ, a campaign source said that they had.

In fact, Romney himself tweeted a photo of a delivery boy heading out with the loot, writing, "Great deep dish at @ginoseast. Sending the extra slices to @barackobama and his Chicago HQ team."

1. How thoughtful - it would be great if he had the same concern for all the folks who go hungry
in this country thanks to the top 1% squandering all the money. Typical frat boy attitude with his practical jokes. No awareness whatsoever about how much of the world lives. Asshole.

7. Is this supposed to be some symbolic act?
If so, then I don't get it. It's actually kind of creepy.

12. That he can't feed his campaign workers without assistance?

Beats me. Gino's has incredible pizza, though, so I doubt the campaign workers cared much where it came from.

10. Gin's is ok. Sometimes their sauce is a bit too much
Although I did have a double sausage, onion, shroom, garlic and green pepper deep dish tha was pretty decent.

Was this some type of response to all the pizza that chicagoans sent to Wisconsin during the protests? If not, I really am missing what Willard was trying to do. We KNOW that despite his oily exterior, he really isn't a nice person inside. I just cannot figure which ulterior motive he was seeking with this move.

14. perhaps sending the leftovers to a homeless shelter would have
been more appropriate. but he had to grandstand. republican presidential candidates are so lame. :eyes:

16. this is how trickle down works
the big boys get the fresh pizza, stuff themselves and then send the crumbs to the workers who actually make the products.

Thanks for the illustration, Mitt.
Now if you could just fire a couple workers for eating too much of the crumbs, the illustration would be complete.

19. It's some years since I had Gino's "Deep Dish," but it was fantastic. There was no comparison
in Chicago.

Is the Obama campaign HQ across the road or something?
