"President Palin?" "President Palin??" C'mon.
Edited on Fri May-27-11 12:17 PM by Cyrano
We have all gone over the edge at one time or another in our lives. But Palin deluding herself into thinking she could get elected president crosses the line between delusion and totally nuts.

Of course, there are hard core lunatics out there who would vote for virtually any demagogue. But Palin isn't your everyday demagogue or idiot. This woman is so incredibly ignorant as to make Larry, Moe and Curly look like Einsteins.

Yet, who the hell knows what the American electorate is capable of in today's screwed up world? There's the far out possibility that this person could end up in the Oval Office.

And were it to happen, my guess is that the world's nuclear powers would be so frightened that they'd launch everything they have at us in a preemptive strike.

Is there anyone here on DU who really believes in this woman's fantasies?

2. I wouldn't know, but Bush 2.0 wasn't any more credible, really.
If the Powers That Be decide they want her to run and win, she'll be a contender. Just like Bush was, and she might win, just like Bush did.

4. Reagan was an amiable imbecile who actually won (as far as we know).
Bush Jr. stole it twice.

In order for the powers that be to steal it for Palin, the vote would have to be close enough to make the outcome somewhat plausible. I doubt if she could get 25% of the vote in a national election.

9. Maybe. My take is that the MSM *made* it close for Bush. You know... "Earth Tones -- tee hee!"
It shouldn't have happened. But it did. And I see no deeply fundamental reason it couldn't happen again. The MSM doesn't look fundamentally more serious, or fair, than it was then. And the GOP with their plutocrat puppetmasters haven't grown any scruples.

LO pointed that out quite well last night.

Faux would have taken her off the payroll in March if she had any real intention of running.

10. It's possible that the GOP fears a Palin presidency as much as we do
She's unpredictable and uncontrollable.

And the powers that be don't like people they can't control.

24. True, that.
TPTB do not want some fundie nut who needs to be "protected" from "witchcraft" with a finger on The Button. There's a decent chance she'd push it in a fit of pique to bring Jebus back. TPTB have a LOT of looting to do yet and don't want someone like Caribou Barbie messing with their scheme to squeeze the country dry.

were running the country.

Sister Sarah? Does anyone have a clue as to whether or not she can be controlled? I don't think so. And it's why I think that she'll be stopped by the media, the Republican Party, and those who own the media, the Republican Party and most of the rest of America.

14. It doesn't depend on Palin.
If gasoline is $5/gal and unemployment 9%+ then Mickey Mouse could be elected.

2012 will be 100% a referendum on Obama and his performance.

Imagine the dilemma of those who think "a woman's place is on her back," and those who think "a black man's place is in the fields picking cotton."

My guess is that there would be a record amount of write-in votes for Jefferson Davis. And who knows? He might just win.

Edited on Fri May-27-11 12:59 PM by leeroysphitz

I took this in south-west Detroit just before the mid-term elections. I'm still not sure what the point of it is but one thing I am sure of is that if those who put it up are registered and likely to vote they would actually do it. They would happily vote for Sarah Palin.

Detroit isn't exactly a "conservative hot-bed".

20. She knows she can't win.
She also knows Pres. Obama WILL win. But, if she gets the nomination and loses, Pres. Obama stays in office it's a personal win for her. She makes her fortune off of whining about our president, his policies and anything else that is even remotely associated with him.

By running and losing, she can play the victim, not do any work and continue to be the grifter she is.

23. Absolutely right
If she is any good as a grifter at all this is too good to pass up. No different than Trumps "running" Neither thinks they will win its all about the publicity.

She would be stupid not to run IMHO.

Edited on Fri May-27-11 02:07 PM by MyshkinCommaPrince
Too many powerful Republican insiders dislike her and she seems to be too much of a loose cannon for the corporate overlords to adopt her as their next puppet. She seems to believe her own nonsense and have her own shifting agenda. They'll find ways for her to be useful to them. She'll still be a pain in everyone's side, one way or another. But not from the Oval Office.

Hopefully not from the Oval Office, anyway.
