for those who haven't been following:
NYPD officers Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata were acquitted of charges of raping a drunk woman in her East Village apartment. The officers came to the apartment because the cab driver who took her home was worried about her. So the cops came to her apartment--four times!--and one of the cops raped her during one of the "visits." They were found guilty of misconduct, but not of rape, despite bruising on her cervix (a witness for the prosecution suggested that she might have gotten bruising there from a too-vigorous shower! How'd you like to have that man as a SO and try to explain female anatomy to him?).
In a NY Times article entitled "What Proof Does a Woman Have to Have?," the woman who videotaped the NYPD's coming and going said she had only one comment: "heartbroken."
TimesRead the article. And be disgusted.
ETA: Oh. And the reason I posted this is because I, and I'm hoping the rest of DU, would like to see pics and hear your accounts of the rally if you can make it. I'm 3000 miles away....
