Poll: Rudy Giuliani leads 2012 GOP contenders
Source: Raw Story
By Sahil Kapur

WASHINGTON – A new CNN poll shows former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani narrowly leading the field of Republican presidential contenders for 2012.

Giuliani won 16 percent of the 473 Republicans surveyed, one point ahead of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney who had 15. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin received 13 percent and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) had 12 percent.

Even though Giuliani's lead over the following three hopefuls was within the poll's 4.5 percent margin of error, his numbers were a remarkably strong showing for someone who has barely been mentioned as a contender, and who has made no public indication that he may even run.

2. I don't know, that would be an improbable 100% improvement over last time.
Maybe he should just aim for 1.1 delegates, 1.5 tops. Slow and steady wins the race!

6. The actual poll data is here

They also run some 2nd choice and what-if polls.

You might also want to see this:

http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/05/27/6731818-herman-cain-mini-surge

Nate Silver on Maddow talks about Cain's solid polling numbers, which may be the real story here. From Nate:

"He has good chance of having some influence on the race — perhaps like Mike Huckabee in 2008, a candidate with whom he shares some similarities. And I don't think the possibility that he could actually win the nomination can so easily be dismissed. The argument that you're likely to hear elsewhere is that candidates without an electoral track record haven't won the nomination in the modern (post-1972) primary era. But it's a small sample size, and some or another precedent is broken in nearly every election cycle."

Another interesting question - if Gingrich drops out, who gets those votes? Palin would be my first guess, but who knows?

10. Isn't this the guy
who was having an affair in one of the WTC buildings? Didn't he have a little love nest? And isn't this the governor who would not change the location of emergency headquarters from the towers when advised to do so? And didn't he cut building funds for schools (schools falling on students), but allowed funds for school uniforms?

Just asking.

8. I will eat my hat the day the GOP nominates someone pro-choice
it's gonna be hard enough for Romney to spin his history on that one.
