City to clean up messy yards of foreclosed homes

Have you noticed how nice a home for sale looks? Whether it is listed by the owner or repossessed?

That's because it's hard to sell a mess.

But it's a different story with foreclosed homes not yet for sale.

"They are very neglected. Many things can happen -- graffiti, grass grows, trees," said real estate broker Robin Stanko.

Some homes will sit in weedy limbo for years. A Federal Way home caught fire and was condemned. Now, it's owned by a finance company. Neighbors asked the city to do something:

1. Shouldn't the finance company pay for that? They own the property.

to the finance company. If they do not want to pay it then the city should just take over the house.........

5. Try and find them.....

Given recent revelations about the state of affairs in the morgtage business, it would not surprise me that no one can find sufficent proof of the homes ownership to sell it! And if you can't sell it, why pay the taxes? These homes are likely on the road to "tax sale" (to be seized by the municipality for unpaid taxes), so the city/town is protecting their own interests in cleaning up the messy stuff - not to mention the interests of the remaining homeowners.
