Something that isn't being addressed in the contaminated
Edited on Sat May-28-11 12:14 PM by shraby
vegetables...and I worked at a processing plant and that's where I heard about the antics going on.

Young people (usually young men cause they are stronger) are hired to empty containers onto the belts that carry the veggies to be sorted for ones with bad spots, etc.
Those young men will and have urinated in the veggies for a laugh, not realizing the consequences. Of course the veggies are run through a cold water bath to get the grime off, but that doesn't by any stretch of the imagination get all the grime..including urine.

Maybe better supervising of the young people in a plant might be in order.

This was when I was a young adult myself, and I'm sure young males haven't changed that much over the years.

1. Yuck! That's why I wash all vegetables, whatever their
source. Some guys are pigs, especially some young guys with poorly paying jobs.

Yes, they need better supervision, but that's unlikely to occur. Wash your veggies!

2. as a teenager I worked in a fast food chicken joint and witnessed far worse acts done by workers....
I reported them to management and then quit after seeing 2 drunk employees dunk chickens into a toilet bowl before sending them out to home deliveries.

I have never called for home delivery of any food in 45 yrs because of it.

3. At a place I worked years ago, a guy who is now a local cop
was fond of killing flies by snapping a wet dishrag at them and then chucking them into the fryer grease to hear that satisfying sizzle.

4. I guess the veggie places aren't the only places that need
greater supervision of young personel. :hi:
