If the GOP's complete agenda were to be enacted in full...
Unencumbered by The New Deal, The Great Society, The vestiges of Anti-Trust laws, Environmental laws, Banking laws, Civil Rights laws et al…

It would lead to utter collapse and financial and social ruin….

Yet, they persist in their fanatical desire to grind everything to dust.

Why?

Why do they hate America and are doing their damnedest to destroy it?

1. This is a class war between oligarchs and the rest of us
They want to finish once and for all with a game winning play and the Republican agenda is it.

2. They're sociopaths. It's as simple -- and as scary -- as that.
Especially given all the power that we-the-victims (?) have bestowed on them...

3. The 19th century seems to be the model.
Children working in factories. No unions, no wage and hour laws, no safety regulations. Robber barons. Extreme wealth and extreme poverty, not much in between. William Blake's "dark satanic mills." But the people at the top did very, very well.

7. They want to be the new Carnegies and Astors and Goulds and Mellons
and Rockefellers and Vanderbilts. They want to live like they did - which means the rest of us get to eat shit so that can happen.

And the worst of it is, so many deluded teabaggers think they will be rich someday, too -- if only the evil socialist/Democrat/Muslim/Kenyan government would get off their backs. What they don't get is that if the Republicans get their way the teabag crowd will be eating the same shit sandwiches as the rest of us peons while the new Vanderbilts eat prime rib. But by the time the 'baggers figure that out, it will be too late.

12. The teabaggers are so filled with hate, brainwashed and being used
that they don't realize their best chance for having anything is under liberals. The other side has rigged the game and made sure no one but themselves will ever have a thing. I could almost (but don't) feel sorry for those who are so used and made fools of.

6. Actually I think India's caste system seems to be their ideal model.
You're born in privilege or you're not. And it's the privileged that lead privileged lives, and the rest of the world is made to suffer. That's what I think they're going for.

5. Just a guess:
If there is to be a new world order, capitalistic/feudal or fascist as it were, they can't let that pesky piece of paper called the Constitution and America to exist except according to their specs.

I suggest these capitalists really feel more comfortable with a fascist form of government. America, and any law or social order that made it great, must cease to exist in order for them to thrive.

14. Agree
we used to be able to count on the Democrats to at least put up an honest REAL fight to stop them. Now I think the majority (with very few rare exceptions) of Democratic office holders have decided that since they couldn't beat them they are joining them. All want to make sure they are in on getting a large share of the "spoils". x(

10. Have you ever seen "Gangs Of New York"?
Imagine that life for 90% of the population, in every city coast to coast. The 20% of America that always has voted Republican and always will vote Republican believe with all their heart & soul that they would be part of the top 10% in that world.

Of course, the 10% that's already there knows better.

their goal is destruction of the ability of central government to regulate or impede the whims of the wealthy and powerful.

the effects of their political success in a post-nuclear world are simultaneously unthinkable and completely predictable.
