Ships Trapped off Russia's Coast

Breaking the ice to reach trapped seafarers.

Approximately 500 people are stuck aboard ships caught in the ice in Russia's Northern Pacific.

A fishing vessel, a freighter, and a scientific research ship became stuck off the coast of the Khabarovsk Territory on Thursday.

On Monday two more vessels, a freezer ship and a trawler, became icebound a further 20 miles away.
