When will we have a political system that protects the private lives of our representatives?
Really it is nobody's business. And yet the moralizing press is always on the alert to destroy the professional lives of our elected representatives due to some personal peccadillo which never effected job performance or integrity of policy.

Clinton had a consensual relationship with a fellow adult, which should have been nobody's business. And yet they were able to use his "lie" about it--which he told in order to protect his privacy and the privacy of Lewinsky, in a sense an honorable lie, certainly not a self-serving one--
to cripple him politically.

Meanwhile the very same people who tsked and shook their fingers at Clinton AND PROSECUTED HIM were committing similar or worse deceptions in their own lives which they never had to be held accountable for.

Until we allow our elected representatives to be adults and have an expectation of privacy in that, we are nothing but a bunch of salivating children who allow beasts to cheapen and poison our political discourse for their own aggrandizement.

1. David Vitter was screwing prostitutes ... and got less media attention.
So did Ensign.

Sanford too.

And those guys actually committed adultery.

Weiner flirted on-line ... of the horror!!!!

2. Democrats cannot have a private life
or expectation of such. Worst if you are a liberal democrat.

Now if you are a Republican... by all means.

And if people cannot get the pattern I can't help them.

3. When will the Patriot Act be repealled.
And when will the beer and travel money be sent.

And actually it is not about there private lives being protected, it is about it used as smear when not relevant.

And that is a societal issue that few comment on.

4. exactly--the drive to decaptiate anyone on the left who is a threat
to the agenda of the right is so obvious and obviously wrong. We used to believe in fair play. Where is that drive which used to fight the small minded and petty smears?

5. Why don't we hold ourselves
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 05:47 PM by obliviously
to the same standard we hold them to, do we think we are incapable of self control?
Bullshit, I'm not an animal, I control myself and expect those that I elect to have the same self control. If we lower the bar for our side and we lose!
