U.S. kills Marine vehicle that promised 750 jobs (Michigan)

Defense Secretary Robert Gates today said the Pentagon is ending a multibillion-dollar push for a new amphibious vehicle for the Marine Corps. The program had the potential to create more than 750 jobs in Michigan over the 14-year life of the project.

But we don't need no stinking amphibious landing craft. We will have no need to storm the beaches of Normandy in the foreseeable future.

Just start building wind turbines here and I will be happy. Why is that so freaking hard?
