1. If only they had something better to offer. |

The health insurance rates are going so far up some individuals are having to drop it.
Tonight I talked with an old friend who's age 60 and has diabetes. He makes well under 25K, sad to say. He was paying about $200 a monthon a company health plan. Now his part of coverage has been raised to $440. Plus co-pays. He can't go without coverage because his diabetes medicines would run him over $700 a month, as well as going without coverage in case he had an accident. (He's in a risky job.)
Now this friend can't put away much if any money for his old age. He won't be able to afford little luxuries like going out for a moderately priced dinner with friends.
He's among the people who voted for Obama and wondered why the President -and Congress- didn't do anything to make health insurance more affordable. 'Tax credits' mean nothing to people making under 25K a year. Not when the insurance companes are getting away with extortionary rates.

It will never get past the Senate. The Republicans are grandstanding so it looks like they are keeping their campaign promises. They know it's not going anywhere.

4. Yuk, yuk, yuk. Publicity stunts. Congress knows a "repeal" isn't going to happen. |

This is just grandstanding prior to the President's SOTU address. Repubs are looking to get some press. And they have, fwiw. :hi:
