Petraeus Sees Winning Over Taliban as Key Task, Rheinische Says
By Tony Czuczka - Wed Jan 05 09:03:13 GMT 2011

Efforts by Afghanistan’s government to reintegrate former Taliban fighters are bearing fruit and will be a key task in fighting the insurgents this year, U.S. General David Petraeus was cited as saying by German newspaper Rheinische Post.

Petraeus, the U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, said international troops will stay in the country as advisers and trainers after the planned handover of security to Afghan commanders in 2014, according to an interview carried on the newspaper’s website today.

He wouldn’t say which regions might be handed over to Afghan control in 2011, the newspaper said.

1. I wonder if keeping them there is
because if all our military personnel come home there will be no jobs awaiting them. As my granpa used to say We can't win for losing.

2. I suggest reviewing this map ... here are the regions that will be turned over
http://www.icasualties.org/OEF/ByProvince.aspx

(My predictions based on American troop fatalities)
Ghowr(2 fatalities since 2001)
Nimruhz(3 fatalities)
Takhar(2 fatalities)
Jowzan(4 fatalities)

Regions that WON'T be turned over

Helmand (662 fatalities)
Kandahar(336 fatalities)
Konar(146 fatalities)
Kabul(124 fatalities)

perpetual wars,folks...feed the war machine.
