Rick Scott of Florida already controlling press coverage
Scott wants reporters to stay out of his face

Already this week, he held an inauguration that featured security worthy of a presidential visit; barred reporters from an inauguration-day lunch that included nearly two-dozen legislators; and opened other events only to a single “pool” reporter.

Friday morning, he held his first press conference. And there were new rules for that, too.

Until now, sessions in the Capitol’s first-floor press-conference room would feature the governor stepping forward to make his announcements, introduce anyone he’d brought along and answer questions. But once that formal session ended, reporters would flood to the front of the room to “gaggle” around the chief executive and ask more questions.

No more.

1. They know the more they talk, the more stupid they look.
Like Palin, Bachmann, Brewer, Miller, and so on.

2. Will the reporters covering the governor object?
Or will they acquiesce, fearful of losing "access" (if you can call it such)?

4. They will allow him to do what he wants
We have no real media in Florida - heck in all of the country. They let him slide during the primary and general elections. Why not now??

5. I would like to believe that the newspapers are beginning to understand
how their silence in the past has added to the problem. I would like to believe.

6. For two reasons:

They know how bad press destroys political careers because mudslinging is their game; and because, between corruption and stupidity, they have a lot to hide.
