MILWAUKEE -- The group People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, or PETA, has offered the Milwaukee Archdiocese financial aid while it deals with bankruptcy.

PETA sent a letter to Archbishop Jerome Listecki offering to pay the church cash.

In exchange, the church would have to display a statue of Jesus holding a lamb with the inscription "blessed are the merciful, go vegan."

Thursday evening, a representative of the archdiocese told 12 News the archbishop had not yet received the letter.
