When John Boehner says he can't tell his caucus what to believe.
The first thing to remember is that John Boehner is a professional master of the lie and cry.

Just let one of his contemporaries steer off that narrow one lane road of Republican party politics to voice consideration of man-made climate change, union card check, or common sense tax increases, and watch the new House Speaker crawl up his ass faster than a Log Cabin gerbil. John Boehner will not only tell his caucus what to believe, he'll personally write the script for their recantation and schedule a guest spot on Rush Limbaugh's show so they can read it aloud.

That sawed off croquet mallet that John Boehner brought to the podium is a symbolic tool meant to keep his own party members on the very same paragraph of the very same page in the very same playbook, throughout his (hopefully short) tenure. Debate is not an intermural sport in the Republican Party.

2. I think Boehner is fast on his way to becoming as relevant as Denny Hastert was to DeLay.
Eric Cantor seems to be consolidating a lot of power in that caucus, his friends dominate the leadership.

Boehner will become Cantor's weeping figurehead.

4. "Debate is not an intermural sport in the Republican Party." Is it even offered?
They can't or won't debate anything. That's why they make the rounds of the MSM talking-head shows and simply talk without any pushback.

When they ARE questioned, they scream, cry and stamp their feet and call their opponent a liar, or just plain wrong.

Problem is, acting like a spoiled three-year old plays well with their base.
