House will throw out votes Sessions cast before taking oath
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/010811dnpolsessionsoath.8f90317d.html

WASHINGTON – Amid boos and taunts, a divided U.S. House agreed today to untangle the problems caused when Dallas Rep. Pete Sessions ducked out of opening-day ceremonies to attend a reception with a Pennsylvania lawmaker and campaign donors.

Both missed the oath of office, but went on to vote a half-dozen times before GOP leaders realized the violation of House rules and the U.S. Constitution.

This morning, the House voted to erase the votes cast by Sessions and Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick in the 24 hours before they officially recited the oath Thursday afternoon on the House floor.

Tthese morans weren't paying attention when the Constitution was being read.

Things like oaths and rules don't matter to a Republican when there's money to be made somewhere.

20. Judging by my partner's county...not much
The median income for a household in the county was $32,533, and the median income for a family was $38,255. Males had a median income of $31,847 versus $21,650 for females. The per capita income for the county was $17,772. About 11.70% of families and 15.10% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.60% of those under age 18 and 11.80% of those age 65 or over.

Not mentioned was the number of single-parent households.I've seen them.my partner and I have thrown a few bucks their way MANY times,as they count pennies to buy bread or meat for their family. In TEXAS,people.

F*ck him and his greedy,hate-filled peers.

3. Anybody know how the "GOP leaders realized the violation of House rules
and the U.S. Constitution."? I hope the Dems in the House raised hell about this.

They should be fined, too. Assholes.

6. Why don't they just take a vote to toss Sessions out of Congress, instead. . .
that'd certainly solve the problem. (Or at least one of the problems with Congress this session.)

7. They broke the law; what's their punishment?
The last Congress censured Charles Rangel. What is the appropriate sanction for members shirking their constitutional duties in such a cavalier manner?

9. My favorite part:
Edited on Fri Jan-07-11 04:04 PM by MilesColtrane
"When Speaker John Boehner administered the oath to their colleagues, they watched on TV and recited along"

I stood up in front of my TV and recited the oath that John Roberts took when he was sworn in.

Dammit, that makes me Chief Justice of the Supreme Court!!

the claim from that Judge Judy episode I watched once?

I mean, Judge Judy was pointing right at me when she said, "You're going to get $500."

13. The other irony.
The oath is an affirmation that they will support and defend the Constitution, the same one they violated.
