Norwalk's colors are Purple, Gold, and White. I hate two of those colors. Hate them. I was though, forced to wear them while competing under the banner of Norwalk High.
Now I must confess; there was never an issue of whether we HAD to wear those colors while representing our school in competitive sports, but the underlying and unspoken requirement was that we wore the uniform of the school whether we liked the colors or not. In other words, wearing the school colors while competing was
forced upon us.
In retrospect, I find the requirement that I wear school colors collectively even though I despised them individually has affected my relationships with certain individuals and has even affected my betting habits in the
context of sports. I've lost literally tens of thousands of dollars because of my hatred of those colors.
My argument is that I should have been allowed to wear uniforms consisting of my favorite colors regardless of what uniforms my teammates wore. What difference does the color of a uniform make in the heat of competition? None whatsoever in my opinion.I'm in the market for a good lawyer so I can sue the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District for discrimination. Their discrimination, defined by the unspoken rule that I wear Purple, Gold, and White while competing under the banner of the high school I was representing affected my life in numerous ways, including the fact that I wasn't drafted by any teams in Major League Baseball or the National Football League. I hated the colors, so I didn't contribute 100% to their team effort. That's not the point though... The school attempted to rob me of my individuality. Had they allowed me to wear the colors of my choice, I might have gone on to be elected to the Halls of Fame of both the National Football League and Major League Baseball.
If only... and to think my failure to achieve Hall of Fame status in both MLB and NFL is attributable to my hatred to wear colors I HATED is beyond belief. ANYONE who demands conformity in the context of intramural sports uniforms SUCKS THE DICK of authority.
You are either with me, or siding with the authoritarians.
I think I'll sue the district for tens of millions of dollars. Hell, they have money to spare, right? Who needs books when you have Xerox machines?
Fuck 'em. Fuck ALL authoritarians. They gots money, and I wants me some.
