The congressman, who received death threats during the last Congress, told KVOA that he and other members are in a state of shock. He said members of Congress, including Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.), have contacted him since news of the shooting of Giffords broke.
Grijalva said it is important that lawmakers are in constant contact with their constituents, but added that changes need to be made on security issues for lawmakers.
Asked what he would change, Grijalva responded, "I would certainly insist on more security... (so) we can make sure this doesn't happen again."
