The fact that he killed a child and other bystanders along with the judge indicates politics may not have been the number one motive.

Whether he had a left or right point of view he is/was obviously troubled. It would be great if he was anti-healthcare and compelled to action by Beck, Limbaugh and Palin, but his ramblings seem more generalized. There are a whole bunch of kids his age who think the current system is obsolete and are not following the "traditional" path after graduating from high school or college. There is plenty of mistrust of both society and government among them but they are definitely not right wing. Thankfully also not violent.

And my opinion fwiw is that he is mentally disturbed. He talks about terrorism and alot about the Constitution, and about numbers and symbols. If he was watching politics over the past couple days, it was ALL about the Constitution. Maybe that was enough to tip him over the edge into criminal madness.

Now - how did he get the gun, does he have a history of mental illness, what was he doing up until today (reading, watching)? Those are questions that will probably tell us what really happened here. He has been posting for a couple months, and if you look at his YouTube account where he talks about himself http://www.youtube.com/user/Classitup10#p/u/0/7uRjwPWaxiY , it looks like he posted between October and December 15 and what he posts about himself is ALL in the past tense.

Although there is politics woven in this tragedy, I am beginning to think this was the sad result of a seriously mentally ill person who acted on the voices in his head.

Yet another sick person who probably was not treated because of our poor health system - especially in Arizona.

As others point out and what his Youtube musings tell me...he was definitely a libertarian. A psuedo logician whose righteous incoherent ramblings would make him a member of good standing on Free Republic. He could have started out as a 'leftie', but I really doubt his thinking would find him many friends on our side of the fence and his political outlook probably changed over time. He's obviously a confused anti-socialist who has been immersed in Arizona's RW political environment.

47. I haven't watched any media coverage of this yet...

However, nearly all the discussions about it have been trying to link him to one thing or the other. I went to the guy's youtube page, and it's very obvious that he had some serious mental issues (although, if I were to have seen those before he did this, I would have assumed he was just screwing around). Also, to make things worse, there are people out there creating fake accounts to make him look liberal or to make him look conservative.

I dunno... It just seems wrong to me, and I'm not easily offended or disturbed.
