5. Answering the OP's question: probably not.
He'll have to wait until his scheduled departure. Soyuz and Space Shuttle launches cost millions of dollars, and as tragic as the situation is, the money isn't there to just pop him into a capsule, send him home tomorrow, then shoot up another Soyuz with a replacement.

That's the risk you take on long-duration space missions, or even with overseas deployments with the military - if something happens back home, you're not going to be able to fly out to be with your family - you're on deployment, you stay on deployment, with very few exceptions.
