My congressman who just retired canceled his town halls last year because of death threats

Dennis Moore, a blue dog. Kansas 3rd district.

He received death threats at both his DC and home offices and both the local cops and capitol cops advised him to cancel all public appearances. So he did.

And the local right wingers went crazy. They flooded his offices with calls and staged rallies in front of his local office every week. The blogs called him a coward for 18 months, even after he had announced his retirement.

His wife decided to run for his seat and she was criticized. The local bloggers were quoted in the media calling her a coward who was afraid to meet the public. And she wasn't even in office.

This has become so common that 'Coward' is almost always connected to his name when right wingers talk about Dennis Moore.

Those same right wingers are strangely silent today. Hmmm.
