He told aquaintences he met Rep. Giffords in 2007, and asked her a question- and said that she was "stupid".

His writing seems to indicate some mental problems to me, and I have no doubt he wanted to be killed in this episode.

I think he had a serious mental illness. I won't dispute that many people with such illnesses are attracted to RW politics, and I believe they influenced his actions.

9. Givern his background and problems with the law at school, and previous threats

to kill others, I am wondering why he was not in some type of treatment. He seems everyone just thought he was "quirky", but his writings really suggest to me that he was schitzophrenic...I do have several years working with numbers of people with schitzophrenia, and that is the first thing that struck me given his age and his grandiose ideas...

there are many shared delsions there. while we make think he's not making sense 100% of the time, they agree with the 60% they understand....and don;t give a thought about the other 40% because they are so low informatiion in hte first place, confusion abounds.

11. Read his posts online- he states he is the controller, and controls other persons

actions, beliefs, etc...Much of what I read there points to schitzophrenia to me. He certainly might have been used as a pawn by the organization he was evidently connected with, but I believe he is seriously sick, not just your average RW asshole...
