I don't.
I was buying a charger for my phone when I saw on mobile CNN that not only had Rep. Giffords been shot, that she had died. It is a very good thing that I was in a public place, because if I had been alone, well you know. Thankfully the stupid media got it wrong and she survived trauma surgery. I went to the store to buy groceries and I don't even remember doing it. I can't imagine how folks that saw the news regarding JFK and RFK felt at the time. I didn't know until 2 hours later that the news had gotten it wrong. (Thank you DU via mobile)
For about 24 hours now, I have shifted back and forth from sadness and anger.
This vile act makes accessibility to your Congressional delegation even more difficult. When you can't have a small event in the parking lot of a grocery store without the threat of violence, something is very wrong with this country.
I have family and friends in Tucson. Last fall, I actually was at that Safeway and bought a birthday cake for my grandfather.
Anyone that I know in southern Arizona is a Republican, but they are not bat-shit crazy. Everyone that I have talked to loves their Congresswoman and the fact that she is in the district so often and talks to her constituents in person so often, even if it just a casual talk or hello.
We need much better protection for our elected Representatives and Senators, but you still need to be represented.
This political "rhetoric" involving any and all violence needs to end NOW. I don't ever want to hear about targets, cross-hairs, or any of that shit ever again.
