Whether Laughner was influenced by Palin's shotgun metaphors or not...
They have to realize that if you allude to violence as a part of a political agenda, explicit or not,
when violence occurs you will receive some of the blame, justified or not.

The Constitution guarantees free speech but once you engage in free speech you must accept
the legal and societal consequences that your words may entail.

You are legally free to slander someone but they are equally free to sue you for damage to their reputation.

You are free to advocate violence, to a point, but if violence occurs you will be held accountable.
