Police from a 2006 investigation "Operation Motorman" turned their files over to the phone hacking investigation. It contains 3522 cases where the police found the media to be in possession of illegal information gleaned from blagging, hacking, tapping....God knows where they got it all.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/21/phone-hacking-operation-motorman-filesThe New York Times has an article showing that hacking was widespread.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/jul/21/news-international-olympics-hackingOne of the biggest new stories, if true, means phone hacking was still going on last year. Here is a snippet:
"David Cameron is to examine allegations that a senior government official was subjected to "disgraceful and illegal" phone hacking and hostile media briefing while Andy Coulson was Downing Street's director of communications".
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/20/mandarin-phone-hacked-coulson-downingJames Murdoch continues to be in hot water. His "payouts" were "payoffs" and he knowingly OK'd them.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/20/james-murdoch-gordon-taylor-payoffOne of the biggest things is that Murdoch's minions have stopped paying the legal fees of Glenn Mulcaire. He is probably named in every one of the lawsuits against News Corp
and up until now newscorp paid his legal fees so he wouldn't have to say anything. Once this man starts talking things will totally blow up. Though, I'm sure, he has been offered secret money. He also got the message loud and clear from Sean Hoare showing up dead.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/20/glenn-mulcaire-legal-fees-terminatedFOr those of you who missed it: in the carpark next to the spot where Rebekah Brooks lives they found a garbage bag with notes and a laptop inside the dumpster. Security called the police and just before they get there guess who shows up to claim the bag. Rebekah Brooks husband. He swore it was a mixup and that the computer is his and his alone, not his wife's and she had nothing to do with it. The police refused to return it. He is freaking out about it while he waits. My guess is it is either the computer she used at home OR it is his and he was afraid the police were going to take all the computers in the house...he must have something in it he didn't want either his wife or the police to see.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/18/mystery-bag-bin-rebekah-brooksThe Guardian is saying James Murdoch was "mistaken" in his words to Parliament. "Just by way of clarification relating to Tuesday's CMS Select Committee hearing, we would like to point out that James Murdoch's recollection of what he was told when agreeing to settle the Gordon Taylor litigation was mistaken.
In fact, we did inform him of the "for Neville" email which had been produced to us by Gordon Taylor's lawyers."
