TV station edits black boy to make him seem violent
Source: RawReplay
By Eric W. Dolan

Chicago CBS affiliate WBBM is under fire for editing a 4-year old African American boy’s remarks to make him seem prone to gang violence. The young boys comments were played during a story about the drive-by shooting of two teenagers in a Chicago neighborhood.

In the edited video, the young boy says that he is “scared of nothing” and confidently states that when he is older he is “going to have me a gun.”

After playing the video, one news anchor comments, “that is scary indeed,” and another anchor adds, “hearing that little boy there, wow!”

In the unedited video, the boy explains that he is going to have a gun because he is going to be a police officer.

The Maynard Institute for Journalism Education, which first reported the edit, said the misleading video was “wrong so many ways, it’s hard to know where to start.”

CBS 2 has acknowledged “that a mistake was made.”

1. Lying to the public should be a crime, punishable with prison time.

4. Well It IS Fraud, Trying to Pass off Made-Up Shit as News…
…not sure you could get a conviction on those grounds though.

The kid and his parents should sue for character defamation though.

5. CBS 2 has acknowledged “that a mistake was made.”
1) it waan't a mistake
2) they would not have "acknowledged" this
"mistake" if they hadn't been caught
3) how many times has this "mistake" been
unacknowledged?

6. Don't you love the passive voice?
"A mistake was made." Not "we made a mistake." But gremlins or something somehow snuck into their studios and wreaked havoc with their broadcast. Nothing they could have done to avert it. About the only thing missing is "sorry if you were offended" and "some of our most valued employees are negroes black."

10. Remember after Katrina when black people were labeled "looters" while white people...
