All politicians (now Neolibs as well as Repukes) are terrified of raising taxes on anybody. Aside from Sanders and Kucinich, I don't know of any Democrats that aren't. Most are terrified of the Defense Industry and proposing cuts to it.
This is why America needs a national war sales tax, a patriotic way to support our foreign wars and insure our troops get the war materials and equipment they need in a robust manner. Set the tax up so that it pays directly 100% against the national debt.
Pick a sales tax figure, say 5 per cent or more depending on the expense of the ongoing fight to preserve freedom for those that think a war is as necessary as they have since forever and a day. A national war sales tax on all purchases would both ensure that the war is worthy, both in terms of blood and financial sacrifice, and allow all citizens to sacrifice equally.
I promote this as perhaps the one and only way for our current political system to ever so delicately and timidly approach the need to avoid having the MIC (military industrial complex) fiscally destroy us.
