LESSER EVILISM will not ATRACT the voters.

Digest that please, and what it means.

1. Kinder gentler Republicans are Republicans not democrats...
and they are sure as hell not liberals or un-evil.

LESSER EVILISM indeed.

2. The idea that you are projecting yourself as the lesser of two evil...
That's pretty much running a campaign on You think I'M Crazy, look at the fucktard I'm running against...

6. Pretty much
Do you want to get out the vote, phone bank and raise money for "I'm crazy, but look at that whackjob"?

I swear to God most of the Democratic party leadership in charge of campaigning is advocating lobotomies, and the people we have on the ballots have already gotten them.

They see how effective the negative ads have been directed at them have been...
But what I think they missing the boat.

It is the relentless negativity that drives people away from politics and the more negativity that is out there, the less likely people are too vote. The thing about all of this is that low turnouts always tend to trend toward the GOP...

16. It looks like Dems want to lose the election
That's what it looks like to me, and wouldn't surprise me a bit. If you can't get shit passed with a super-majority, you don't want to get shit passed.

3. And before it's too late
My God. The current crop of shills has to be dumber than a box of rocks. Lesser of two evil politics just ends up with fewer people at the polls and more people not giving a damn.

No amount of spin changes that fact. Destroying the party from within is what I call it.

4. I have come to the conclusion that voting the lessor evil
will no longer be an option for me. We should never have allowed them to get away with it. We all need to get involved at the local level so we can choose our liberal/progressive candidates. Blue Dogs are too conservative to put good policy in action for everyones benefit. JMO

21. No lesser evil for me too.
I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if the bus goes over the cliff at 60mph or 5mph, it's still going over the cliff.

I will vote my conscience from now on.

5. That's a good one. He also just said "Obama can't climb on a bus like Pawlenty and create jobs.
He needs a program to create jobs."

7. Pawlenty can't do shit
But Obama can because he's the most powerful man in America. It's disingenuous to argue otherwise.

14. Well, I'm not seeing any of those, from either side
Edited on Thu Aug-04-11 04:28 PM by Aerows
certainly not from the President, who could at the very least spur SOMETHING for heaven's sake - not a politician that bores the shit out of everyone.

Edit: And I didn't mean to direct that at you or anyone personally. You are right in some ways, but failures of the other side at this point don't make massive failures on our side look any better.

People complaining this way are negative to start with. That's the only way TO appeal to people who don't want to find good in anything.

10. He specifically referred to his memories of the Carter second runn
for office and we both know how successful that second term was.

You should heed the lesson... and not you specifically, the WH should.

13. I've heard those that advocate this lesser of two evils crap
for about as long as I am going to listen to it. I'm gay. I feel, and HAVE felt disenfranchised since this administration. Before, I could be reliably counted on as a donor, volunteer and solid vote. Do you HONESTLY think "It will be worse under a Republican" hand waving is going to motivate me after I have watched the push for DOMA, "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman" and DADT ultimately got repealed by actions from the Log Cabin Republicans?

Meanwhile, the OTHER ideals have been sliced away, one at a time. Explain to me - concisely - what could be done that is worse. Do you think in New York, after Republicans voted for gay marriage, that they are suddenly going to repeal it? Do you think after the courts have struck DADT down, anyone can repeal it? But this administration hasn't done shit. Don't even drag out the list, because it isn't so.

I want to know how our party is LESS worse. I mean, my God, even Republicans don't throw their own party members under the bus without reason. Obama has tossed a huge chunk of the base under the bus out of convenience. Don't tell me it's for any other reason.

18. Well if you care about any other issues
Of course it would be worse under republicans.

And you are going out of your way not to credit Obama for repeal of DADT. He SIGNED it.

Republican Presidents will appoint people to the court who might uphold discriminatory laws that an R Congress would pass and R President sign.

This is just insane. For gay people, republicans are a DISASTER. You are fuckin' nuts.

19. I care about a lot of issues
Particularly since I have elderly parents. I'm getting up there in age myself, and I care.

Worse under Republicans? Do you think Republicans can pass "gay marriage is illegal under state laws"?

And are you blind to the fact that the DoJ repeatedly attempted to uphold DADT and it was the courts that ultimately struck it down - by the works of Republicans?

That doesn't sit well in the eyes of many gay Democrats. Bill Clinton always enjoyed tremendous support from gays, because he pushed the agenda. He may not have made it all the way, but he tried. Obama has tried to push us backwards in many cases. If Democrats start seeing gays as their enemies, they need a head check. We have always been tireless advocates, and tend to donate - I certainly have.

If you don't dance with the ones that bring you, or even worse, through punch all over them . . . well, that's idiocy.
