P.S. I understand death is a relief for those suffering and in great pain. I understand. That is 100% correct.

However, if you could cure them of said malady, and stop their suffering, wouldn't you be for it?

Death is only a consolation prize in that regard - life without pain would be the real goal

At least not death in general. Something else has to die for more of us to live longer. We like that kind of death.

It is funny though how we complain about corporations essentially being immortal. They privatize the profits and socialize the costs! That's just greed. Can't have that! We must regulate corporations.

Who regulates homo sapiens? Nature/the planet/the environment/whatever you want to call it. Death is a regulation. Apparently that regulation is the enemy. We want to write the rules that govern us, the rules that regulate us. I guess all those corporations are onto something.

Humans make up corporations. I don't know that you get to separate the two. It's the only reason corporations might be said to be essentially immortal. Our species, along with all the rest, are basically corporations to the planet's government. The planet regulates species, government regulates corporations. Our species is an Exxon, Wal-Mart, Monsanto, etc. Mass society is like a merged corporate monopoly. And we very much like to privatize the profits of the planet for our single species, and socialize the costs.

As for any technology, ethical considerations have to be taken into account. And I understand that this could easily overpopulate the planet, and our planet hasn't responded too well to overpopulation. However with an ethical and fair minded approach, this technology could be beneficial to everyone, including the planet.

Imagine if Einstein could have lived to see string theory?

Imagine if Tesla could have lived to see the internet?

Of course, this begs the question, what if Adolf Hitler could live to implement his evil?

Thing is, this technology will come - its not a matter of if, but when.

One of the great discoveries from the human genome mapping is discovery into why we age, and how cells die. Right now, scientists are working on ways to reverse this process.

When it comes, the human race will have to deal with it ethically, or face extinction.
