very clinical description of what happened. This is a classic of somebody who has gone through a traumatic experience and who was detached through the whole event. Time (the sensation of time) does slow down in a situation like this...

and he went through the whole think in a detached, clinical, even tone, description of his actions during the Saturday nightmare.

He is a retired US Army Colonel.

I've used that tone and my husband uses that tone... it is cold and clinical.

I know what you mean - my dad was a surgeon and you could just see the "doctor" veil come over him when needed to protect himself emotionally and get the job done. I somehow inherited that, keep my head in emergencies, very clinical, as you say.
