Obama should say, "I am creating a 20 billion dollar jobs program, and I dare you
Edited on Wed Aug-17-11 12:49 PM by adigal
to vote against it." Then he should add, "You won't raise taxes on your millionaire cronies, and you don't want a jobs program. But the Dems are creating it, and I DARE YOU to vote against it. Go ahead. Show the Americans who you support."

And then stick to his guns. Dare them to reject it. Remind the voters that they can get rid of a lot of these crazies next year. Stop with the mealy-mouthed rhetoric. Have some courage. He can do it!! He needs to if he is going to win reelection, and the USA really needs him to win, or we will be a banana republic in 2 years.

(Edited to remove incorrect terminology)

1. Except he's the one with the veto powers
Other than that, I'm for it.

3. 20 billion, in the context of 14 trillion dollar economy, is insignificant
Yes, it is significant for the lucky few who get jobs through that program. But it won't make a dent in the unemployment rate. It won't get us on the road to recovery.

I do find your choice of language interesting. The House now can "veto" things?

9. My sentiment exactly - 20 billion dollars will do exactly what the stimulus did
Evaporate into the thin air without much impact!

4. Doesn't matter, Romney or Perry will be our next POS
Based on the rhetoric here, I'm psychologically gearing up for our next war and minimum wage employment.

5. If he did, the media would just censor him or cut his mics like they always do.
Or worse, the GOP would just staight up call him "An angry black man" like they always do all the time.

The Professional Left would then come in and say "He is just talking-this is not far left enough unless he does (list impossible demands here)."

A better idea would be for Obama to fool them all by never giving them the chance to do these things.

8. If he got the Dems behind him and for them all to say the same
would be harder to defeat. But, we got so many Blue Dogs. He should try to show how many jobs those tax cuts created.

12. The Professional Left/GOP would censor him or distort his words if he even TRIED.
I vote that he just work within the current, accepted framing.

10. Yes, and aimed directly at creating jobs by fixing infrastructure
Lots of blue collar jobs. Let the T-pers vote against helping their voters. Maybe it will sink in that the T-pers don't have the working class' best interests in mind.

Obama could sell it as a "homeland" improvement loan. To be paid back by ending tax breaks for the rich.

I'm not holding my breath, though.

19. since the House is in Republican hands, that bill will never get to the floor in the House.
What a conundrum. Wouldn't it be great if the RepuKKKes in the House actually cared about the country instead of beating Obama to a pulp? But they don't.
