Palin issued a new statement on the tragedy
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=487510653434&comments

To which I replied: "When some lunatic plays Pin the Bullet on the Congresswoman, it's fair to ask who spun them around and shoved them towards the target."

Fuck her

1. There's NO way she wrote that:

<snip>
There are those who claim political rhetoric is to blame for the despicable act of this deranged, apparently apolitical criminal. And they claim political debate has somehow gotten more heated just recently. But when was it less heated? Back in those “calm days” when political figures literally settled their differences with dueling pistols? In an ideal world all discourse would be civil and all disagreements cordial. But our Founding Fathers knew they weren’t designing a system for perfect men and women. If men and women were angels, there would be no need for government. Our Founders’ genius was to design a system that helped settle the inevitable conflicts caused by our imperfect passions in civil ways. So, we must condemn violence if our Republic is to endure.

She can't even SPELL half the words in that paragraph alone!

2. Ugh, Christ, she couldn't go ONE DAY without mentioning Ronnie and 9/11
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 07:23 AM by NuclearDem
All while saying "lol it wasn't my rhetoric that did it look ronnie ray gun said it wasn't" "THINK OF 9/11! I DIDN'T CAUSE IT lol"

I hate this woman more and more everyday.

She just HAD to press every conservative button in it too: Ronnie, 9/11, Founding Fathers, God. At least she didn't try to say the shooter was a lib.

Brilliant logic though..."our Founding Fathers settled their political disputes with guns! And we adore our Founding Fathers...wait, guys, hold on, I've got an AMAZING idea..."

44. If so, they did a Piss-Poor job of vetting her speech
She's already taking some well-deserved heat for her mendacious (or dog whistle) use of the term "blood libel"

The term blood libel is generally used to mean the false accusation that Jews murder Christian children to use their blood in religious rituals, in particular the baking of matzos for passover. That false claim was circulated for centuries to incite anti-Semitism and justify violent pogroms against Jews. Ms. Palin’s use of the phrase in her video, which helped make the video rapidly go viral, is attracting criticism, not least because Ms. Giffords, who remains in critical condition in a Tucson hospital, is Jewish.

9. Great reply.
She has seized the moment to try to be blameless in this, but the fact that it took her three days to say anything tells me she must have been nervous about what she had done and needed time to spin her way out of it.

She has also forgotten that our governing bodies and courts can declare some speech illegal when it incites to violence or causes life-threatening panic. She's too obtuse to remember that, preferring instead to quote Saint Ronnie.

I wish she'd just go away now.

We do have limits on "offensive speech". We dont get to curse or say "fuck you" in the public arena or on public airwaves because even though it isn't an incitement to violence, it is considered offensive to many people.

I think I'll start a thread on that.

29. And Guess Who Will Get All The Attention Today On The Cable News Shows?.....
not Obama's speech.

Fox News especially will be playing and replaying and commenting on her comments. Can't wait to hear what the boys (Rush, Beck, Hannity, Drudge, et al) will be saying about this and how they will be comparing it to what Obama says.

I can almost see the draft of her comments being circulated to the boys - asking them to edit it down until they all had agreement on these words.

And that's what they are - just words. No heartfelt meaning - just words. Anything to further their cause to regain the power of the presidency and further drag this country down the rabbit-hole.

11. Grifterella's Had A Bad Week
It started last week when her purse took a big hit when not only was her waste of electrons of a teevee show not renewed for a second season (another million samolians) but the current seasons was going direct to DVD...cancelled! Guess there weren't enough mama grisleys out there to compete with Kate and how many little ankle biters she has or those Ice Road dudes. So much for becoming the television star and launching that big campaign.

Then came Saturday and the scrambling to take down the target pic as well as scrub other websites...and then trot out a PR hack and turn loose Faux Noise. This one caught her blindsided...or should I say her enablers...those who write her websites and talking points. No matter what they come up with she's gonna get slammed. Mooselini's problem is she can't nuance...and her over-the-top rhetoric is coming back to bite her. Whatever she says she'll be confronted by a video that counteracts it...she's talked herself into a corner. While she may not know it, someone around her does and has her muzzled.

We may be seeing the final 5 minutes of Bible Spice's 15...the over-saturation and final minimalization. Her dreams of sweeping to a Presidential nomination, if not election, are starting to drift away as she's alienated people in her own corrupt party and her gaffes and lack of intelligence and experience are getting a close look. The free ride is ending...this incident shows she's surface and not substance...

The implied message is that there is no way to understand what happened, so don't even try to. In short: don't think.

Maybe others here have come to the same conclusion long ago, but I'm beginning to think that the underlying problem we face with respect to the Tea Party and Republicans in general is anti-intellectualism. They are afraid of new ideas.

41. We're all psychics and can write her speeches in advance
The only surprise in her speech was the "blood libel" reference. Who would have thought even Palin would compare herself to Holocaust victims?
I was shocked by her email exchange with Glen Beck where Beck's concern was for Palin's family. Yes, Palin's family. Because Palin, who was so quick to blame Hillary Clinton for playing the victim during the campaign, is always playing the victim. Always. The inference is that HER family is under attack. Nevermind six people have died. SARAH's family is, somehow (?), the family at risk.
She's the heroine on the railroad track waiting for her rightwing radio hosts to come to her rescue.
She continues to be the Real Housewife - complete with bitchy attitude and six-inch thick lipgloss --of the GOP.
And the girlfriend deficient rightwingers just fall at her feet.

ha ha ha hahahaha. That picture tells 1000 words. That is the look of a woman who knows she is partly responsible for killing 6 people including a 9 year old girl. She's defeated.

Her words and her face are saying something completely different. Her face is saying "I'm finished. I'm sorry. Please don't take away my fame and money. I never thought this would really happen." You can tell she's been bawling her eyes out.

When you use a lot of gun-related imagery to try to intimidate your political opponents, you'd better hope none of those people actually get shot by some nut. If that happens, folks are going to be pointing at you -- whether the shooter was directly influenced by you or not.

Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you. Politics is a tough game. If you can't take it, maybe you should stick to doing poorly rated reality shows.
