Daytime TV, Bloomberg, Snow, Weather Forecasts |
|
I was home yesterday during the day and I got to enjoy a little bit of daytime TV. The only show I watched was “The Price is Right.” The show was enjoyable as always until it got cut off by CBS for the Bloomberg press conference about the snow. CBS interrupted The Price is Right just as the Showcase Showdown was about to begin. This is like the Heidi Bowl all over again, but whatever.
I don’t know how people watch Daytime TV. The only thing worse than the shows is the commercials. Commercials about electronic wheelchairs. Commercials about pain relievers. I think this tells you the makeup of the audience. The only commercial I didn’t see was the old Apex Tech commercial. There is no better motivator to get a job than daytime TV commercials.
So Bloomy came on TV yesterday to tell us how prepared NYC is for the snow. I’ve been living in NY all my life. I think I can count the number of times that the snow response was bad on one hand. The city and counties do a good job overall. The last storm hit the day after Christmas. That’s just a terrible time for everyone. People are on vacation. People are wrapped up with holidays. The response wasn’t great, but I understand it. People want to criticize Christie of NJ for staying on vacation during a snow storm, but you know what? The snow removal should be able to take place whether he in the country or not.
The snow did hit last night. The initial prediction was 12”-18” and snow all day today. I checked again late last night and it was upgraded to 15”-20” with snow all day today. I woke up this morning with 7” of snow on the ground and a nice sunny day. I’d like to know what the hell went wrong with the weather forecast.
But that’s life I suppose. There are no guarantees in life. Sometimes you just have to go with it. :)
