That they refused to sell ammunition to him at one Wal-Mart so he went to another where he was able to buy it.

My guess -- as is the case in my local WalMonster, there's no permanent clerk on duty in that department, the kid in sporting goods was under 21 or whatever, and they couldn't scare up another cashier with the requisite age, and the requisite key, to get the ammo out for sale.

He simply left before the order was finished. Leave it to Wal-Mart to skirt the subject out of fear they might lose their crazy customers.

6. Why the hell does Wal-Mart have a license to sell guns anyway?

This should be restricted to shops that specialize in such things, not places where you can toss a box of ammo into your shopping cart, alongside a package of t-shirts and a bottle of laundry detergent.

They follow the same laws & regulations as any other gun shop.

Walmart doesn't sell many guns (they don't sell any handguns) but they do have some of the cheapest prices on target practice ammo (Winchester White Box).

One Walmart in Tucson refused to sell ammunition to Jared Lee Loughner but another nearby Walmart sold him the bullets he allegedly used to wound U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and kill six others, the Wall Street Journal is reporting.

The paper, attributing its report to "people familiar with the matter," said it's not clear why the first store turned Loughner away.

13. Maybe that person doesn't want to be interviewed by the media?

If it was me, I wouldn't want my name or image plastered all over the television or newspapers as part of the story, whether I was the person who refused to sell Loughner bullets or the person who did sell them. And Wal Mart is under no obligation to violate this person's privacy by feeding him to the media. I have no reason he hasn't told the police whatever he knows and there is no particular reason for him to go public. Indeed, the more that people with potential evidence about this matter talk the greater the risk that the jury pool gets tainted or inflamed.
