Did you get much snow?

I'm still waiting for the snow plow guy to come do my front walk and driveway. He's got a couple of crews but this stuff is VERY deep...I managed to get out far enough to get the paper on the front walk but nearly fell over in the snow...

Somehow we've avoided any serious accumulations from the several storms so far, which hit so many others but largely avoided DC area. Not in Hagerstown, my 'official' residence, which is north and west of DC, so don't really know what's happened there.

Glad you only 'nearly' fell over! My great concern is slipping & falling, and I already see slush accumulating along road, which will freeze overnight. Oh well, C'est la vie!!!

Awww. Those are my remedies of choice, ALWAYS. And if you wanna get gourmet about it, you can stir a little creme fraiche into the soup. But don't bother to go out to get the creme fraiche if you haven't any handy. It can wait for a better time. (I love your new Dem governor, too, CTyankee.

9. Yes I do:

Empty one can of Campbell's Tomato Soup (the old reliable) into a saucepan. Refill can with milk and add to saucepan. Stir until it just boils. Whole, part fat, or skim milk are all fine. I use skim because the color and tomato-ness of the soup is stronger. And besides, the creme fraiche, liberally stirred in, makes it nice and rich. If you want to get even fancier, you can sprinkle fresh chopped chives or scallions on top.
I know sincere foodies may take issue with the canned Campbell's thing....but, every once in a while I still love the sort of homogenized, blandish taste of
mass produced foods. (Kraft Macaroni and Cheese still comforts me too.)

I also recommend Cooper's Sharp American for the grilled cheese sammitches.

13. sodium is my concern with Campbell's. Perhaps they make a low sodium version?

Campbell's makes a "Healthy Request" tomato soup with less sodium in it. Bon Appetit!

7. The creme fraiche really makes it, too!

I taught our daughter ( a huge tomato soup fan like myself) to use that in regular Campbell's soup as well as eggs--makes a huge difference in the taste and a nice treat.

We grew up on tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches...never get tired of them. :)

And those little individual bottles of Champagne too. Add tomato soup, add orange juice (respectively!) It's a nice life.

16. I often bring a bottle of prosecco when I don't know what we're having.

That way, it can be served as a predinner drink or a degestivo. Or with the meal. A good option. If someone brought me prosecco I would open it and let everybody choose between that and another predinner drink or have it on hand to serve as a backup wine with dinner...I usually offer lemoncello as a digestivo but you need those tiny little glasses...the stuff can be lethal...

My new Republican Governor has come up with the solution to all these snow problems. He's probably gonna announce a special tax break for rich people and the big corporations that make snow removal equipment. To a Republican politician, a tax cut is like duck tape, you can fix everything with it.
