1. Hmmm...maybe.
It looks to me as though it's aimed more at Georgia and South Carolina...

Hard to say, really.

We'll know more in a few more days.

Hang on!

30. I agree Peg...
I think it looks like it's got a bead on the more northern states...

We could use the rain...but I do feel a bit paranoid that I move away from Florida and all these critters keep heading this way lol!

Much safer here though...than on a tiny island.

2. I thought it was going to turn towards Bermuda?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 11:19 PM by Renew Deal
Jeff Masters thinks it's probable it will turn.

"Dr. Bob Hart's Historical Tropical Cyclone Probability web page suggests shows that tropical storms in Katia's current position have an 16% chance of hitting North Carolina, a 21% chance of hitting Canada, a 12% chance of hitting Florida, and a 54% chance of never hitting land. I suspect that Katia will turn north before reaching the U.S. and potentially threaten Bermuda and Canada, based on what past storms in similar situations have done, and assuming the jet stream maintains its current pattern of bringing frequent troughs of low pressure off the coast of the U.S. It will be another day or two before the models will begin to have a handle on the long-term fate of Katia, though."

4. Many look that way this early, they always turn to the North, move in clockwise fashion.
I hope this one acts like most of them and never makes landfall.

7. Nah. If it was between Cuba and the Bahamas I'd be worried -
this one is likely only to be an issue for shipping.

8. Too far east for being that far north
It will be a big one though. There is an outside chance that the carolinas may need to get worried, but this is not likely.

13. This photo (link in msg block) looks like LA is more likely to receive
rain than FL, plus it it is moving north.

26. Looks like it will "hit" mostly La, with some into Alabama and Mississippi, and
maybe a rainstorm or two from the outer fringes into the tip of the Panhandle, but I bet nothing east of Panama City will see anything at all.

19. We are going to be right in the middle of that sucker by Sunday, forecast says.
Rain and winds, no problem, as a rule, in my neighborhood, but tornadoes...that will be the issue.
Making grocery list now.

Pray for rain, and everyone else gets wet - makes you wonder, doesn't it?

It seems the storm in the Gulf of Mexico will create the conditions for that one to move to the north.

Hopefully it turns east and doesn't make landfall at all but Irene has me nervous.
