How's that "center" looking? Obama's approval ratings, per Gallup:

These idiot "centrist" Democrats think their disastrous approach to governing is somehow winning the mythical American "middle", but it's clearly and objectively not.

1. I think they know that.
I think they also know which side of their bread is buttered.

3. There have been many polls out lately saying the same thing
That Obama is driving independents away. 'Centrism' has failed. Time for Obama to step back into the light.

Then why is the Administration focusing
on "centrist" voters...these mythical voters that don't exist. Most Independents are actually progressive.

14. conventional wisdom is killing off real wisdom
It takes enormous guts and stamina to fight the "official" narrative. They don't have either, apparently.

11. I'm one of those in the Liberal 78% Approval group.
In every public poll,
I give Obama the highest marks possible,
but in real life, I wouldn't cross the street to help him jump start his car.

I strongly DISAPPROVE of his "Centrism",
his willingness to swerve to The RIGHT,
his pandering To Wall Street and BIG Corporations,
his neglect (at times contempt) for LABOR,
his marginalization of traditional Democratic Party institutions,
and his refusal to FIGHT for traditional Democratic Values,
.
.
.
....but in every single poll, I STILL give him the highest marks possible.
I'm NOT the only Liberal Democrat who does this.
Funny, isn't it?
Must be an ego thing.

That 78% number looks good on paper,
but it can be deceptive,
especially when answering NO on "approval" can be mis-interpreted as a APPROVAL for Republican policy.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want a party that will STAND UP for Working Americans."

13. I would definitely jump start his car.
And I'd follow him home to make sure he got there safely.

I don't think I could bring myself to *disapprove* of him in a poll, unless there were a mechanism to make clear that I was disapproving from the left.

But I'm not a happy camper.

6. Obama is faith based ideolog and he will stick to his ways
not matter what the results. Bipartisanship and opposing marriage equality are the whole of the man's ideas. Without that, he is not even visible.

12. Let's not call them idiots.
But you are right. Their strategy is not working. The centrism comes across as weakness to independent voters.

I kind of wish President Obama was not going to be our nominee in 2012, but since that is a foregone conclusion, it is crucial that he wins. Better a centrist Dem than any of the Republicans.

But if he's going to win, the White House needs to start sending out a stronger message. Some kind of line-in-the-sand about Social Security and Medicare would be very helpful, although that would now require some backtracking.
