What options are left?
If the Republicans will not compromise on anything other than their own pet projects, then what options do the President and the Democrats have left?

They have kicked the Democrats in the shin and have spit in their faces and called their Mamas bad names. They are looking for a fight but the Democrats refuse to accommodate. Instead, they prefer to surrender in the name of compromise.

From reading many of the posts here on DU, it seems a lot of people are depressed and obsessed with this Administration's incompetence and unwillingness to fight back.

What options are left? There are not going to be any deals made with the Republicans that will benefit the Democrats. There are not going to be any big job creation plans that are taken seriously. Republicans simply refuse to play ball with this President.

What should the Democrats do? What should the President do? This is not a favorable situation to find oneself...

3. As Dr. Dean would say, we need to make sure that
we hang it around their necks. If we don't we seem to be complicit.

Remember how we hung ending Medicare around their necks? That position is now radioactive for them, and they're terrified of it. We fight, we win.

9. How can we do that when the president is on their side?
He's the one who proposed raising the Medicare eligibility age. I guess the question is, who is the "we" and who is the "they in "hang it around their necks"?

7. When you negotiate from your opponent's middle ground, you quickly run out of room
to maneuver. This is the problem with putting centrists in charge. We made a terrible mistake electing Barack Hoover.

12. How was this President able to discourage so many Democrats?
That he is now becoming a mockery of the worst Republican of Democratic jokes?

It was no easy task to turn off so many of your supporters in such a short time.

It is rather depressing.

19. primary Obama or empower a 3rd party. sorry, the Dems are corporate controlled and have been since
the 1980s, when they realized the GOP had succumbed to corporate power and so the Democrats had to do the same to stay relevant.
