Can New Orleans handle 20+ inches of rain
Haley Barbour just declared a state of emergency in Mississippi because he expects up to 20 inches of rain in that state. Bobby Jindal and Mitch Landrieu are going to have a boatload of problems, (no pun intended).

3. I'll bet it will not get the 24/7 attention that the tropical storm ...
also known as Hurricane Irene got last week.

4. That is true but wetlands tend to be able to absorb large amount of water
they are a crucial buffer to the gulf states, which is why it saddens me to see developers destroying them without thought. New Orleans is built on wetlands but has been paved over by concrete, which is why the pumps are needed for an area below sea level.

6. Better than most places, so long as the levees hold.
They already have the pumps in place to deal with it.
