Regulations, taxes aren't killing small business, owners say

WASHINGTON — Politicians and business groups often blame excessive regulation and fear of higher taxes for tepid hiring in the economy. However, little evidence of that emerged when McClatchy canvassed a random sample of small business owners across the nation.

"Government regulations are not 'choking' our business, the hospitality business," Bernard Wolfson, the president of Hospitality Operations in Miami, told The Miami Herald. "In order to do business in today's environment, government regulations are necessary and we must deal with them. The health and safety of our guests depend on regulations. It is the government regulations that help keep things in order."

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is among the most vocal critics of the Obama administration, blaming excessive regulation and the administration's overhaul of health care laws for creating an environment of uncertainty that's hampering job creation.

When it's asked what specific regulations harm small businesses _which account for about 65 percent of U.S. jobs — the Chamber of Commerce points to health care, banking and national labor. Yet all these issues weigh much more heavily on big corporations than on small business.

One more rethuglican lie debunked.

3. It's lack of demand.
In the business I am, it's demand that is the issue.
When you are in a situation where you struggling for survival, any regulatory issue gets magnified, whereas in normal business times you wouldn't even notice.
So too with taxes - any expense becomes critical. The ignoramuses on the right - knowing none of their theories are worth shit - will take any possibility and extrapolate into justifying their bullshit.

The cost of lowering taxes or stripping regulations never justifies the outcome. The business is not going to make it without increased demand - plain and simple. Taxes and less regulation will not make the difference.

5. If you don't have more customers your business will not improve.
If people don't have any money to spend they will not become customers. BTW, why should a business hire more employees if they can make a larger profit by working them harder?

6. While I don't like all the fees and taxes I have to pay, those are not killing MY
small business.

ECONOMIC HARDSHIP FOR MY CLIENTS IS KILLING MY BUSINESS: JOBLESSNESS, UNDEREMPLOYMENT, VANISHING RETIREMENT FUNDS, AND THE THREAT TO CUT/END SOCIAL SECURITY.

7. There is one place theY (Cong and ADM.) could do a carve out.
Donahue(COC) says the Small Banks are hurt because of
the way the Big Banks squeeae small banks. It seems it
would be simple enough to make adjustments. Big Banks
sqeeaze the Small Banks who in turn cannot be making
loans efficiently to Small Business and Individuals.

You do not have repeal the whole of Dodd Frank in order
to help Small Banks, Small Businesses and Individuals seeking
loans.
