“As the president has said before, we are going to take a look at whether we can find political support for a reform of the corporate tax code that would lower rates by broadening the base but not lose revenue on net,” he said.
Corporate taxes may be addressed in President Barack Obama’s State of the Union on Jan. 25. The head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday advocated a lowering of the corporate tax rate, and Obama himself has previously indicated support for lowering the 35% tax rate. But the White House also makes the point that in return for dropping the tax rate that every company pays, they would want to get rid of various loopholes and deductions.
